Install ubuntu with spatial-ecology tools in your computer

STEP 1 : Open the virtual machine previously created

click here if you have not create your VM yet

STEP 2 : install Remastersys

Remastersys is a full system backup including personal data to a live cd or dvd that we will use to install the virtual machine Ubuntu with GIS OS in our computer. (see: http://www.geekconnection.org/remastersys/ )

   sudo su
   wget -O - http://www.remastersys.com/ubuntu/remastersys.gpg.key | apt-key add -
   
   echo "# added for remastersys repository" >> /etc/apt/sources.list 
   echo "deb http://www.remastersys.com/ubuntu precise main" >> /etc/apt/sources.list
   
   apt-get update 
   apt-get install remastersys 
   


STEP 3 : Create an iso file from Remastersys

  • Click on Application > System tools > Administration > remastersys
  • Click on Backup


STEP 3 : Create a start up disk using the iso file

  • Click on Application > System tools > Administration > Startup disk creator
  • As Source disc iso select the iso you just created in the home/remastersys/remastersys/ folder
  • As Disc to use select and use a usb stick
  • Shut down your VM


STEP 3 : Select reboot mode from USB stick in your BIOS


STEP 4 : Reeboot from USB stick and follow the installation wizard

You can choose within the wizard to install ubuntu as the only operating system or maintain another operational operating system in your computer.
